Although IPM was formed in 1999, our pedigree and client base stretches back further.
The scheme was established on 27 April 1995 by the merchant bank Rea Brothers Limited based in Liverpool Street, London, the banking arm of the Rea Brothers Group.
When Close Brothers bought out Rea Brothers in 1999, the SIPP administration business was sold to IPM, who at this point only dealt with small self administered pension schemes. The staff and 300 clients, together with funds approaching £100m became I.P.M. SIPP Administration Limited. The scheme name was amended to the IPM Personal Pension Scheme and as Rea Brothers Limited was to relinquish its banking licence, the Bank of Scotland was appointed as the new provider to the scheme. The business was relocated in late 1999 to Ware in Hertfordshire.
Now in 2009, IPM is still a privately owned company. We are still based in Ware despite an office relocation due to growth in 2003. From the three members of staff IPM employed when first moving to Ware, we now employ over 20 specialist in-house staff. We have over 3,500 clients and have approximately £1 billion worth of pension scheme assets. We still enjoy continuous growth despite no advertising in the trade or national press.
